Driver killed after being rear-ended on Kansas City highway hit-and-run crash
One person was killed early Saturday in Kansas City after his vehicle was rear-ended by another driver who fled the scene.
Emergency crews responded to eastbound Interstate 70 west of the Paseo just after 4 a.m., where the driver of a white Honda was found suffering life-threatening injuries, according to Capt. Corey Carlisle, a spokesman with the Kansas City Police Department. The victim was rushed to an area hospital and later declared dead.
Investigators discovered that a black Dodge Challenger was traveling along the roadway at high speeds when it crashed into the back of the Honda.
Police believe the driver of the Dodge exited the vehicle, entered another vehicle and left the site of the accident.
Carlisle said the crash investigation was ongoing, and no one had been arrested as of Saturday morning.
