Multiple-alarm fire damages historic home in Kansas City’s Rockhill neighborhood

Firefighters battled a multiple alarm blaze early Friday that damaged a historic home in the Rockhill neighborhood in Kansas City.

Firefighters responded the the fire shortly after 3:30 a.m. at the home at 4545 Kenwood Avenue, which is just east of the Nelson-Atkins museum.

Further details of the fire were not immediately available.

The home, built in 1916, was designed by well known Kansas City architect John Van Brunt, who with his brother Adriance Van Brunt designed numerous commercial and residential properties, many of which were along principal streets, according to information from the Kansas City Public Library.
