Child dies after being struck by a vehicle in south KC
A child died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in south Kansas City, according to police.
Police said the accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. in the 9200 block of Cleveland Avenue.
The child was struck by a vehicle backing out of the driveway of a residence, police said. The child, who was not immediately named by authorities, was taken to a hospital. Police were notified of the death by the medical examiner about 4:30 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle gave a statement to police and was released while the investigation continued Tuesday.
