Children’s Mercy East in Independence temporarily closed due to weather-related damage
Children’s Mercy East, in Independence, will be closed for several days to address weather-related water damage, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.
The hospital, including the on-site urgent care and clinics, closed Monday and likely will not reopen until Jan. 3, Cortney Riley, a spokeswoman for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, said in an email.
The urgent cares at Children’s Mercy Blue Valley and Children’s Mercy Northland remain open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, Riley said.
Christine Hamele, a spokeswoman with HCA Midwest Health, said that at Centerpoint Medical Center, which houses the emergency room closest to Children’s Mercy East, patient volumes — including pediatric patients — remained steady on Wednesday.
