Missouri National Guard alerted to help drivers impacted by inclement weather

The Missouri National Guard has been alerted to help Missourians with anticipated travel issues amid a winter storm that has brought strong winds, snow and freezing temperatures ahead of the holiday weekend.

Gov. Mike Parson alerted around 500 members of Missouri National Guard Wednesday to position personnel and equipment across the state. The guard will assist the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other agencies with stranded motorists and other issues from the inclement weather.

Residents are encouraged to stay home and off the roads unless travel is necessary. If they do travel, drivers should have a plan and an emergency kit and avoid snow and ice-covered roads.
