A man died following a multi-vehicle crash Sunday night in Overland Park, according to police.

Around 11:40 p.m., a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on eastbound Interstate 435 near Quivira Road collided with another vehicle head on, said Officer John Lacy, a spokesman with the Overland Park Police Department.

The vehicle continued traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway and struck a third vehicle, Lacy said.

Karl Wurtenberger, the driver of the second vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the third vehicle did not report any injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
