Officials are investigating after a man’s body was found early Thursday in a Kansas City house fire.

Crews responded at 1:15 a.m. to a home in the 3200 block of Lockridge Avenue, where they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front room of the first floor, Jason Spreitzer, a spokesman for the Kansas City Fire Department, said.

Firefighters discovered the man’s body while extinguishing the blaze.

The cause of the man’s death and the cause of the fire are under investigation.
