Munday on Monday: Acorns
Acorns
I thought some kids were throwing rocks
For all I’d heard, the pings and knocks —
And summoning my anger steady
I had for them a lecture ready.
But then I note some other proof
That as I drive, upon the roof
Metallic thud — the cause whereof
Is coming from direct above.
So as I sit, I stand corrected;
My anger has been misdirected.
We run the autumn gantlet, folks,
Each time we drive beneath these oaks.
