What do you do if you find a bat hanging in the lights? You name it “Banana” and develop a list of books and a movie about bats to enjoy, of course.

At least, that’s what you do if you’re staff at Central Library’s OneNorth Technology Center in downtown Kansas City.

“There’s a bat-signal coming from our Central Library,” the Kansas City Public Library said in a message posted on Twitter, along with a photo of the bat.

The bat was found Monday in the tech center and the staff promptly named it.

“To help him pass the time, OneNorth staff gathered a list of items for him to enjoy,” the library said on the list it posted online.

The list, called In Honor of Banana the Bat, included the books I am Bat, Bats at the Beach, Silverwing and Bats Around the Clock. A photo of the collection posted on Twitter included the animated movie Stellaluna, although the online list had it as a book plus audio. The items are available to be checked out.

Banana was safely escorted back outside around 4 p.m. Monday.
