Someone bought a $92.9M Powerball ticket in northeast KS but hasn’t claimed the prize
Kansas: You’ve got a winner.
An unclaimed winning Powerball ticket with the numbers 7–28–62–6 –64 Powerball 10 worth $92.9 million was sold in Kansas on Saturday and hasn’t been claimed yet as of Tuesday morning, according to Kansas Lottery spokesman Cory Thone.
The winning ticket was sold in northeast Kansas in one of these counties:
Marshall
Nemaha
Brown
Doniphan
Riley
Pottawatomie
Jackson
Atchison
Geary
Wabaunsee
Shawnee
Jefferson
Leavenworth
Wyandotte
Johnson
Osage
Douglas
Franklin
Miami
Morris
the northern half of Lyon
It’s the first time that someone hit the Powerball jackpot in all of Kansas since 2012, when the winning ticket was sold in Shawnee.
In 2017, someone in Kansas won $1,000 every week for life through the Lucky for Life lottery.
Thone said that the winner has 365 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. If no one claims it by that time, the money goes back into the prize pool to be used for other drawings.
Winners have the option to stay anonymous when they claim their prize. They’ll have to claim their prize by completing a claim form and taking it or mailing it to the Kansas Lottery office at 128 N. Kansas Ave. in Topeka
The winner can receive a cash option of about $47.3 million, or the full $92.9 million in annualized payments over 30 years. The first payment would be $1.3 million, and the last payment would be $5.7 million if they chose the annuity option.
The odds of matching the five numbers and the Powerball are 1 in more than 292 million.
