An ATV driver died Friday night after striking a tree head-on, according to Kansas City police.

Just after 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the Wyoming and Liberty streets area on a reported crash. Sgt. Jake Becchina, a police spokesperson with KCPD, said the sole occupant of a green John Deere “Gator” went over a curb and through a median to hit the tree.

The driver was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Becchina said the crash’s investigation is ongoing.
