QuikTrip considers building new urgent care centers in Kansas City and other areas
Kansas Citians may be seeing Quik Trip walk-in clinics sprout up across the metro as a part of the chain’s latest venture into the health care business.
The Oklahoma-based company purchased Medwise, which operates 11 clinics around the Tulsa area, and plans to develop more of their urgent care centers in regions that include Wichita and Kansas City, according to Antonya Pharr, a spokeswoman for Medwise.
There have yet to be any estimated dates for these new clinics, she said.
In a statement, Chief Medical Officer of Medwise Patrick Aguilar said patients have a right to expect high quality clinical care and the reputation of fast and reliable service in the chain’s over 900 convenience stores will help support that mission.
“QuikTrip is known for friendly, efficient delivery of high-quality products to customers around the country. We believe that these are the exact characteristics that will help us provide excellent care to patients at MedWise,” he said.
The current Medwise clinics allow patients to use Medicare and Medicaid to access services. They offer various forms of testing, minor procedures and telehealth. Appointments can also be made.
