Park Hill’s answer to parents’ lawsuit: Slavery petition ‘caused massive disruption’
After the school district suspended three Park Hill South High School boys and expelled another for creating a petition to “Start slavery again,” the parents of the punished children sued the district, alleging their rights to due process and free speech had been violated. One of the parents is Tom Hutsler, the Republican candidate for Missouri House District 12.
In its response to the lawsuit, the school district said the slavery petition caused the most disruption that Park Hill Superintendent Jeanette Cowherd had experienced in nearly 40 years in public education.
