KC Water canceled a precautionary boil water advisory Thursday morning that was put in place for some neighborhoods after a water main broke, officials said.

The utility canceled the advisory, which applied to customers in the Northeast Industrial District and parts of the Historic Old Northeast, Union Hill and Longfellow neighborhoods, after testing tap water to confirm it was safe, according to a news release.

Wes Minder, director of KC Water, said the utility reduced production Wednesday when a water main broke near a water treatment plant at 1 Northwest Briarcliff Road. Water pressure decreased for about an hour as crews made repairs.

The advisory was put in place as a precautionary measure, in case any water had leaked and then made its way back into the system with outside contaminants, Minder said.
