Motorcyclist critically injured in crash after allegedly running past stop sign in KC
A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign before being struck by an SUV on Labor Day evening in Kansas City, a police spokeswoman said.
The motorcyclist was riding a yellow and black Honda motorcycle west on 26th Street about 6:15 p.m. Monday at high speeds and allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at Kensington Avenue, said Officer Donna Drake, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.
A maroon Chevrolet Traverse, which was traveling north on Kensington, struck the motorcycle in the intersection. The motorcyclist was ejected and landed on the hood of the SUV before being thrown to the ground, Drake said.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition.
The driver and passenger in the SUV refused medical treatment.
