A train struck and killed a male pedestrian Wednesday night in Bonner Springs, according to Union Pacific Railroad.

The Union Pacific train struck a man around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bonner Springs near Kaw Drive and K-7 Highway, according to Robynn Tysver, a spokeswoman for the transportation company.

Bonner Springs police told drivers to avoid Kaw Drive from K-7 Highway to 121st Street.

No train crew members were injured, she said.

The incident did not occur at a crossing.
