Raymore teen injured while riding watercraft at Blue Springs Lake has died, patrol says

A teenager who was injured while riding a personal watercraft at Blue Springs Lake last week died Tuesday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The victim, identified by the highway patrol as a 17-year-old boy from Raymore, was riding a 2020 Sea-Doo Spark when he crashed Saturday about 7:15 p.m. about a half-mile northeast of Blue Springs Marina. He was wearing a safety device, according to the highway patrol.

He was found face down in the waterand was driven by ambulance to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

He died Tuesday around 4 p.m., the highway patrol said.

It is unclear what caused the crash.
