Westbound Interstate 70 has reopened near Oak Grove after a small plane landed on the highway early Friday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol posted a message on Twitter about the incident about 3:02 a.m., saying the morning commute would be impacted as crews worked to remove the aircraft. The affected area was near the 26 mile marker between Grain Valley and Oak Grove in Jackson County.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., the patrol reported that the plane had been removed and that all lanes of I-70 were back open.

It was unclear why the plane landed on the highway. The pilot, who was the only person on board the aircraft, had minor injuries. No vehicles were hit by the plane, the patrol said.
