Four people were transported to an area hospital following a crash involving a semi-truck on Interstate 35 near Gardner.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-35 near 175th Street.

An SUV was heading south on I-35 when a tire blew out, causing the car to drive into the median and cross into the northbound lanes where it collided with a semi tractor trailer, said Technical Trooper Tiffany Baylark, a spokeswoman with the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The four people in the SUV were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver of the semi truck was not injured, Baylark said.

The left and right shoulders on northbound I-35 were closed.
