One person hospitalized in critical condition after Kansas City crash, police say

One person was seriously injured in a crash that happened Friday afternoon in Kansas City’s East Blue Valley neighborhood, according to police.

Around 3:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision reported near the intersection of Truman Road and Ewing Avenue, Capt. Leslie Foreman, a department spokeswoman, said in a statement.

Crash investigators found that the driver of a red Jeep, traveling east on Truman, crossed over the yellow lines and into the wrong direction of traffic before striking a parked minivan, police said.

A witness told police the driver appeared to be slumped over the wheel before impact. The driver was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said.

The incident was being investigated by Kansas City police. The identity of the driver was not disclosed Friday.
