Dealing with fallen trees, branches after the storm? Here’s where to go in KC area

People across the Kansas City metro area are dealing with debris strewn about their neighborhoods after Wednesday’s overnight storms and tornadoes.

If you’re dealing with storm debris, here’s what you need to know.

Kansas City

Three leaf and brush drop-off sites will be open June 9-25.

You can drop off debris, such as limbs and branches — but you must prove that you are a Kansas City resident.

  • 1815 N. Chouteau Trafficway
  • 10301 Raytown Road

If you have a downed tree on your street, you can call 311 to report it or use the myKC app by clicking “Trees-City Owned” then click “Tree Down.”

Lenexa

Residents of Lenexa will have opportunities for curbside pickup and a free weekend drop-off site. Crews will pick up tree limbs and branches, targeting specific areas on different days. You can place debris on the public right-of-way along the curb.

The Lenexa Municipal Services Service Center at 7700 Cottonwood St. will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. over the next two weekends: June 11-12 and June 18-19.

Independence

Independence residents can drop off storm debris on June 11 at 875 Vista Ave.

Overland Park

Overland Park residents can drop off their storm debris between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on June 12-13 at 11922 Hardy Street.

An Overland Park ID or an ID matching an an Overland Park address on a utility bill is required to utilize these services.
