Parade of Hearts in Kansas City extended to June 10 after community voices support
The Kansas City area’s Parade of Hearts has been extended to June 10 after an outpouring of community support.
The Parade of Hearts was set to run from March through May 31 and provide grants to organizations that help those who have been hurt by the pandemic.
According to the Parade of Hearts website, those organizations include the University of Kansas Health System, the Mid-America Regional Council, AltCap, Visit KC and local artists.
“We feel our dedicated team can remove the hearts and prepare them for the auction a little later than we originally planned,” Parade of Hearts organizers posted Thursday on Instagram.
More than 100 local artists created the hearts that span the Kansas City metro in a show of expression of what they love about the city. The latest heart, number 156, was installed on the University of Kansas campus last week after the men’s basketball team won the NCAA championship.
Information about the auction will be announced in early June, according to a social media post. Supporters can also make donations through the organization’s website.
