A motorcyclist was critically hurt Monday afternoon after crashing into the back of a semi tractor trailer on a state highway in the Northland, according to police.

Officers responded around 12:19 p.m. to the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Missouri Route 210 on a reported injury crash, Kansas City police said in a report. The driver of the motorcycle was taken by ambulance to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the driver was listed in stable condition as of Monday evening.

According to the crash report, investigators found that the motorcycle rider was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic. The driver struck the rear of the semi as both vehicles were headed westbound, according to police.

The driver of the semi was uninjured, police said.
