A man was critically injured Thursday night after he was ejected from a bicycle in a crash, police said.

Police responded just before 8:30 p.m. to the collision on Blue River Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard, said Donna Drake, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City Police Department.

A gray Chevy Traverse was heading north on Blue River Road when the front passenger side and side mirror hit a man, ejecting him off the bicycle, Drake said.

The man was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.

The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured.
