A 58-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that has shut down one lane of northbound U.S. 69 in Overland Park, police said.

The crash occurred around noon in the 1800 block of U.S. 69, said Officer John Lacy, a spokesman for the Overland Park Police Department.

A pickup truck was heading north when it veered to the right, struck a guardrail and continued onto the shoulder before traveling down an embankment and coming to rest after hitting a light pole.

Lacy said the victim might have suffered a medical condition prior to the crash. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have shutdown one of the two northbound lanes. Shortly before 2 p.m., Lacy said the lane will be closed for the about two hours.
