Where are new bike lanes going in Kansas City? Here’s a chance to learn and weigh in
Kansas City Public Works is in the process of expanding its bike lanes in an effort to expand and improve travel for multiple vehicle options.
The city set a goal last summer to install 15 miles of protected bike lanes by the end of 2022, with 10 miles planned by the end of spring 2022.
The goal the city is aiming to achieve is to create a connected bike lane network that is safe for riders of all ages and allows them to travel throughout the entire city without fear.
The city is hosting two meetings to gather public input on the upcoming bike lanes. They’ll discuss and share the plans for bike lanes in the spring and the rest of 2022.
They’ll also share goals for two bike lane-related projects: “Year One” and “Five Year,” and the city wants to hear from you. They want to hear what they might be missing, what they should look out for as they install bike lanes and other concerns and ideas you may have.
The city is hosting two virtual public engagement events on Monday and Tuesday:
From 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday. The link to join the meeting is here.
From noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and the meeting link is here.
You can also join the meeting by calling 1-872-212-5076.
In addition to the public meetings, you’ll have a chance to provide public testimony at the upcoming City Council committee discussion on the bike lane implementation plan ordinance on April 14.
