Crimson and blue: Union Station, KC celebrate Kansas Jayhawk’s 4th NCAA championship

Kansas City’s Union Station and downtown skyline took on a crimson and blue hue overnight in celebration of the University of Kansas Jayhawks winning the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in historic fashion.

Ahead of the game, Union Station tweeted a photo by Aaron Trujilo showing it’s building bathed in KU’s colors.

“Shining in crimson and blue and wishing @KUHoops good luck in tonight’s Championship game! #RockChalk,” Union Station KC said on Twitter.

Hours later, after KU came from behind and beat the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, Union Station KC shared another photo, this time showing the entire skyline.

“Congratulations NCAA National Champions, Kansas Men’s Basketball!” Union Station KC said on Twitter. “Tonight, we celebrate with a special crimson & blue light show!”

The photo by Frank Perez will will be offered as a limited edition print in Union Station’s “Where KC Celebrates” series. Details will be released Tuesday.
