Two children critically injured in crash Friday on I-435 ramp in Kansas City, police say

Two children were critically injured after possibly being ejected from a car in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening, Kansas City police said.

Officers responded just before 7 p.m. to the area of Interstate 435 near Interstate 49, Capt. Leslie Foreman, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City Police Department, said in an email.

A black Chrysler 200 carrying seven people, including six children, was traveling on the curve of the ramp on I-435 to south I-49 when the driver ran off the right side of the road, Foreman said.

The car traveled down a steep embankment before stopping.

Two children were possibly ejected from the car and transported to an area hospital. They were last reported to be in critical condition.

The driver of the car, a woman, suffered serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

The other four children suffered minor to moderate injuries. The children’s ages ranged from 3 months to 8 years old, Foreman said.
