The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts will no longer require proof of vaccination to attend events beginning April 4.

In addition to no longer mandating the COVID-19 vaccine, visitors will not be required to wear masks inside the building unless it is required by the performing artist or performing arts organization. While masks are not required, the center still highly recommends visitors wear one.

The Kauffman Center implemented its vaccine mandate in September as several organizations and businesses were instituting coronavirus precautions across the city.

Last month, the Kansas City Symphony announced that it would no longer require masks for people attending performances inside Helzberg Hall.

COVID cases across the city have sharply fallen since January — the peak of the omicron surge. Over the past seven days, 85 people have tested positive.

Earlier this week, staff at Saint Luke’s Hospital celebrated having no COVID-19 patients in the facility’s intensive care unit.

On Wednesday, Gov. Mike Parson declared the “COVID-19 crisis is over here in the state of Missouri” and announced the state will begin treating the virus as an endemic.
