A 63-year-old woman has died roughly one month after she was severely injured in a single-vehicle crash in Kansas City on Interstate 435, according to police.

The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. on Feb. 16 as a gray Honda Accord was northbound on the highway near the interchange at Bannister Road and another vehicle attempted to merge into the same lane of traffic, a Kansas City police crash report said.

The driver of the Honda swerved, lost control and struck a concrete barrier. The driver, who suffered injuries described by police as not life threatening, and the passenger were both taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Police have identified the person who died as Mary McGuire, 63, of Clinton, the passenger. She died Friday afternoon at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, according to police.
