2 dead, 3 injured after two-vehicle crash in Platte County Sunday
The Platte County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday investigated a two-vehicle crash that left two people dead and three others injured.
Deputies responded around 9:47 a.m., at Missouri 92 near B Highway, according to a release from the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities said a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country traveled westbound on Missouri 92 when it left the shoulder of the road and crossed into the eastbound lane, striking a 2021 Ford Edge.
The 37-year-old driver of the Chrysler, along with a 14-year-old passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing a seat belt. A 6-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl who were also in the car were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, said Maj. Erik Holland, a spokesman for the department.
The 67-year-old driver of the Ford Edge was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Holland said.
The preliminary investigation indicated alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Holland said.
The identity of the victims was not released.
