Is your power out? Nearly 5,000 KC households lost electricity Friday. Here’s where
Power went out for nearly 5,000 Kansas City households in Midtown on Friday afternoon following Thursday’s snow storm.
“As of a little bit after 2 p.m., we’ve got crews on the way (to Midtown) to see what repairs are needed,” said Gina Penzig, Evergy’s external communications manager.
As of 3:30 p.m., Penzig said power had been restored to all but around 200 customers, and the remaining 200 households should have their electricity back on “momentarily.”
The outage area includes parts of Midtown including Westport, including the Sun Fresh Market, as well as the Plaza, West Plaza, Hyde Park, Manheim Park and the area around UMKC, including parts of UMKC’s campus.
According to Penzig, Evergy crews haven’t determined the cause of the outage yet.
If you are currently experiencing a power outage, report it to Evergy by calling 800-544-4857 if you are in Kansas or 888-544-4852 if you are in Kansas City or Western Missouri. You can also report an outage online here, and here’s how you can see the outage map showing who is affected.
