A 41-year-old Kansas City man died when he was thrown from his vehicle during an early morning rollover crash in Kansas City’s Northland, according to a preliminary crash report.

Roberto Chavez was the driver killed in the single-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Friday along U.S. 169 highway at Northwest Barry Road, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Chavez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was headed north on U.S. 169 in a 2013 Buick when he ran off the road, overturned and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
