Water patrol pulls man’s body from Missouri River near Sugar Creek
Marine officers with the Missouri Highway Patrol pulled a man’s body from the Missouri River near Sugar Creek Tuesday morning.
The body was found about 8 a.m. upstream from LaBenite Park in Sugar Creek. A worker had noticed what appeared to be a body and reported it to authorities, said Sgt. Bill Lowe, a spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol.
Water patrol officers pulled the body from the water about 8:05 a.m. Investigators had not had the opportunity to determine how long the body had been in the water, Lowe said.
The highway patrol sent the body to the Jackson County medical examiner’s office to determine the man’s identity and cause of death. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
