The average gas prices across the nation are rising.

The average cost of regular gas per gallon in Kansas is $3.17 compared to Missouri’s $3.13, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).

In both states, prices are up from previous months. In November 2021, the average cost of gas per gallon in Missouri was $3.09 and $3.10 in Kansas.

Regular gas prices in Missouri and Kansas are lower than the national average of $3.44, which is 14 cents higher than a month ago and 98 cents higher than last year, according to AAA.

AAA attributes the rising prices to winter weather and geo-politics, including tensions between Ukraine and Russia.

“This shows how events on the other side of the globe can have a noticeable impact right here in the U.S,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement. “And unfortunately for drivers, they are reminded of this by higher prices at the pump.”
