New to KC from LA, Kansas City Star photojournalist gets advice on driving in snow

Do you remember the first time you drove in a major snow storm?

For most native Kansas Citians the lessons learned from driving on snow-covered streets comes along soon enough in their driving careers. We’ve all experienced a slide into a curb or a ditch at some point due to slippery roads. Maybe you’ve been stuck and had to be pushed out of a snow drift by passers by. Some of you may have more harrowing experiences while driving in the snow.

Kansas City Star photojournalist Emily Curiel recently moved to Kansas City from the West Coast. Her only experience with driving in snow has been during a couple of small snowfalls this winter. Curiel spent Tuesday asking people in Kansas City what a native of coastal California should know about driving in a full-blown Midwestern snow storm.

Watch the video to hear the advice she received.
