It took less than 24 hours for Chiefs head coach Andy Reid’s words to Patrick Mahomes to become local legend.
“When it’s grim, be the Grim Reaper,” he said Sunday with 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
The rest is history.
Mahomes heeded the advice, opening the path for Harrison Butker to make a 49-yard field goal, sending the game to overtime. A coin flip and a touchdown sealed the deal as Kansas City beat the Buffalo Bills 42-36.
Now, with the release of new merch from Raygun, a Des Moines-based T-shirt outfit with a storefront in Kansas City’s Crossroads, Chiefs fans can forever remember what’s been called one of the most exciting playoff games in NFL history.
“And Andy Reid, quote-machine, delivers again,” Raygun posted on its Facebook page, announcing their new t-shirts, which include Reid’s words to Mahomes.
They’ve also released a “00:13” shirt, which reads, “Kansas City can make 13 seconds feel like too much time.” The new shirts are available to order online, and will soon be in stores.
On Sunday, the Chiefs again have the chance to give Raygun more T-shirt material as they host their fourth straight AFC Championship Game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
