A semi-tractor-trailer overturned in Johnson County causing major traffic delays along northbound Interstate 35 during Wednesday morning’s rush hour.

No one was injured in the crash that occurred shortly before 7 a.m. on the ramp from northbound I-35 to northbound Interstate 635, according to the Overland Park Police Department.

“Please avoid the area,” police asked in a post on Twitter.

The crash was causing significant delays for people heading northbound on I-35 into northeast Johnson County, Wyandotte County and downtown Kansas City.

Kansas City Scout traffic cameras showed that northbound I-35 traffic was slow moving from Shawnee Mission Parkway to I-635. Traffic slowed again around the Lamar Avenue exit as drivers used the bridge to turn around to head south on I-35 to catch northbound I-635.

Instead, drivers should use the bridge at 18th Street to turn around if they needed to get to northbound I-635, said Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Tiffany Bush on Twitter.
