Thousands in Kansas City area still without power
More than 10,000 people in the Kansas City area were still without power Sunday morning following Friday’s intense storm that brought down trees and power lines throughout the metro.
KCP&L reported about 6,900 customers without service, Independence Power and Light about 1,300 and the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City, Kan., nearly 2,600.
KCP&L anticipated having most power restored Sunday. But about 900 customers experiencing individual outages may not get their power back until late Sunday night or sometime on Monday, the utility said.
