A Roeland Park woman was killed Monday morning following a crash on Interstate 70 in Wyandotte County after she apparently lost control of her car and collided with an SUV abandoned on the highway shoulder.

The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. on I-70 near the interchange that connects with South 130th Street in Bonner Springs, according to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The victim is identified as Gretchen Gosch, 33.

According to the crash report, Gosch was driving a 2012 Ford Focus west on I-70 when she lost control on a road packed with snow and ice. She rear-ended an unoccupied Chevy Tahoe, the report says.

The driver and lone occupant of the Ford was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to KHP. She was pronounced dead roughly two hours after.

Both vehicles were towed from the area.
