A relative secretly entered them in a contest. They wound up getting married at Arrowhead
Two die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fans had more to celebrate Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium than the Chiefs clinching their sixth-straight AFC West title with a drubbing of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Before the game, Jordyn Burnidge and Chad Clauser, of Kansas City, North, exchanged wedding vows on the GEHA Deck at Arrowhead. The opportunity came to them from winning a contest conducted by Helzberg Diamonds to be married at a Chiefs home game.
The couple got engaged at the Chiefs’ home opener in September and were wed at the last regular season home game.
Burnridge’s sister-in-law, who as matchmaker introduced the couple two years ago, had secretly entered the couple in the contest. Once the sister-in-law confessed, the couple started taking pictures of themselves at home games in an attempt to be noticed by Helzberg Diamonds.
The couple were wed in a ceremony officiated by James Scott, regional manager for Helzberg Diamonds, before the game on Sunday.
In addition to the wedding, they won a a VIP tailgate reception along with tickets and parking passes for the wedding party. Helzberg provided the wedding bands also. The prize package was worth more than $30,000.
Of course the bride and groom wore team jerseys over their wedding attire. The Chiefs’ red and gold colors were incorporated into the bride’s veil with colored crystals, as well as in her bouquet.
The wedding is part of the jeweler’s Hitched at Helzberg, which allows couples to get the ring and elope at the same time. The jeweler is taking appointments for Valentine’s Day wedding celebrations.
