Gas prices are finally dropping across the country: Here’s where Kansas City stands
Gas prices are declining nationwide, according to data from the American Automobile Association. The national average price of a gallon of regular gas is $3.34 as of Wednesday, Dec. 8. That’s lower than it was a week ago and a month ago, although still significantly higher than the price this time last year.
The Kansas City area is seeing prices below the national average on both sides of the state lines. On Wednesday, Dec. 8, the average price of a gallon of regular gas was $2.88 in both Jackson County and Johnson County. Wyandotte County has a slightly higher average of $2.94.
Prices in the counties surrounding Kansas City are consistently lower than Missouri’s statewide average of $2.97 and Kansas’ statewide average of $2.99. Both states’ average prices have dropped in the past month, in line with the national average.
