Police investigate fatal crash in Harrisonville involving semi truck, train
Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a semi truck and a train in Harrisonville that left a Lenexa man dead on Tuesday afternoon.
The Harrisonville Police Department issued an alert on Twitter shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday saying traffic was blocked off on Brickplant Road east of North Clearwater Drive as the investigation was being conducted.
On Tuesday night, a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol stated the victim was 66-year-old Michael K. Samani, the driver of the truck. The report said the truck overturned and caught fire after being struck by the train on its passenger side.
The victim was pronounced dead just before 1:15 p.m. at the crash site, according to the report.
