Video: Police spokeswoman speaks at scene of pedestrian fatality at KCK Walmart

One person died after a driver struck two pedestrians Thursday outside of a Walmart in Kansas City, Kansas, a police spokeswoman said at the scene.

Dispatch was alerted to the crash at 2:46 p.m., said Officer Marshee London, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.

“An individual struck two pedestrians and continued on into the store where the vehicle stopped,” London said. “Three were transported to the hospital with significant injuries, however we have just been notified that one is deceased.”

Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman with the police department, confirmed that the person who died was one of the pedestrians.

The other pedestrian and the driver had life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the crash was accidental, Chartrand said, and possibly stemmed from a medical emergency suffered by the driver.

The incident remains under investigation.
