Turkey trot races around Kansas City: how to join and where roads will be closed

Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day Run
Events: 5 km run, 10 km run, 1 mile walk, kids’ fun run
Race start time: 8:35 a.m.
Location: 8600 Ward Parkway, Kansas City
Registration: starts at $34 for adults, register here.
Route: Watch for road closures along Ward Parkway in both directions on Thanksgiving morning.
Kansas City Turkey Trot 5K and 8K
Events: 5 km and 8 km run or walk
Race start time: 8:30 a.m.
Location: 1 Arrowhead Dr, Kansas City
Registration: starts at $40 for adults, register here.
Route: The race will circle Dubliner Circle and run along Royal Way and Chiefs Way on Thanksgiving morning. Unless you’re driving to or from Arrowhead Stadium or Kauffman Stadium, your route shouldn’t be impacted.
Thanksgiving Day 5K in Overland Park
Events: 5 km run or walk, kids’ fun run
Race start time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: 6200 Sprint Pkwy, Overland Park
Registration: starts at $35 for adults, register here.
Route: This race will run along Sprint Parkway as well as parts of Glenwood Street, Nall Avenue, 112th Street, and 115th Street. Watch for closures in the Aspiria Campus area on Thanksgiving morning.
Hyde Park Pilgrim Run
Event: 5 km run or walk
Race start time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: 3801 Gillham Rd, Kansas City
Registration: starts at $35 for adults, register here.
Route: This event will run along parts of Gillham Road, Harrison Parkway, and 36th Street. Watch for road closures in the Hyde Park area on Thanksgiving morning.
Parkville Turkey Trot
Event: 5 km run and 2 mile walk
Race start time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: English Landing Park, Parkville
Registration: $30, register here.
Route: This event will take place inside English Landing Park and Platte Landing Park. No roads will be impacted.
Liberty Giving Thanks 5K
Event: 5 km run or walk
Race start time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Rd, Liberty
Registration: $40, register here.
Route: This event will run along Park Lane. and S. Withers Road. Watch for road closures around the Westboro-Canterbury Greenway on Thanksgiving morning.
