We compared admissions standards at colleges in Missouri and Kansas. Here’s what we found
For high school seniors around Kansas City, the shorter days and sprint toward the end of the year means more than just the quickly approaching holiday season. College application deadlines are on the horizon. These next couple weeks are that critical time when those students gearing up for the next step of their education are polishing up their essays, pulling together letters of recommendation and finalizing where they want to apply.
We pulled together the key dates, acceptance rates, application fees and other information for various schools in Missouri and Kansas all in one place to make this stressful process a little bit easier.

First thing’s first: All the colleges listed are test-optional for the Fall 2022 class, but some of the schools will consider these test scores for scholarships, if you have them. That means standardized test scores are not required for admission.
And, most schools in Missouri and Kansas have a deadline of Dec. 1 to be able to qualify for freshman scholarships.

Important dates
Priority deadline for scholarships: Dec. 1
FAFSA priority deadline: Jan. 7
Test scores
The minimum requirement for auto-acceptance into the University of Missouri is a 24 on the ACT or an 1160 on the SAT, but these scores are not required.
Minimum GPA requirements
The minimum requirement for auto-acceptance is a 2.0 GPA with the test scores above. While submitting test scores are optional this year, it can help an applicant’s chances of admission and earning scholarships.

$55, can be waived
Test scores accepted as credit
AP test scores of 3, 4 or 5 can count toward college credit at Mizzou.
Acceptance rate: 81%
UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS
Important dates
Freshman scholarship deadline: Dec. 1.
FAFSA priority deadline: Feb. 1
Test scores
If an incoming student chooses to submit test scores, an ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1060 is the minimum KU will accept. The university no longer looks at test scores for consideration for merit-based aid
Minimum GPA requirements
A 3.25 GPA without standardized test scores or a 2.0 with qualifying test scores is required for admission to Kansas.
Application fees
$40, can be waived
Test scores accepted as credit
AP test scores of 3, 4 or 5 can count toward college credit at Kansas.
Acceptance rate: 93%
KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Freshman scholarship deadline: Dec. 1
FAFSA priority deadline: Dec. 1
Test scores
If a student chooses to only submit test scores, an ACT score of 21, or an SAT ERW+M score of 1060 or higher is required for admission to Kansas State.
Minimum GPA requirements
A 3.25 GPA is required for admission to Kansas State.
Application fees
$40, can be waived
Test scores accepted as credit
AP test scores of 3, 4 or 5 can count toward college credit at Kansas State.
Acceptance rate: 95%
ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY
Important dates
Priority deadline: Dec. 1
Test scores
Standardized test scores are not required, but will be taken into consideration for scholarships.
Minimum GPA requirements
Unknown
Application fees
$25, non-refundable
Test scores accepted as credit
AP test scores of 4 or 5 can count toward college credit at Rockhurst, while scores of 3 will be reviewed.
Acceptance rate: 64%
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI - KANSAS CITY
Important dates
Deadline for scholarships: Jan. 15
Test scores
While test scores are optional, some interest areas, such as architectural studies, won’t consider students until test scores are submitted.
Minimum GPA requirements
A 2.75 GPA is required at UMKC.
Application fees
$45, can be waived
Test scores accepted as credit
AP test scores of 3, 4 or 5 can count toward college credit at UMKC.
Acceptance rate: 61%
