No trash pick up on Thursday in Kansas City, most surrounding areas on regular schedule

rsugg@kcstar.com

Don’t put your trash out on the curb Wednesday night if you live in Kansas City.

With City Hall and other facilities closed to honor Veterans Day on Thursday, the city’s trash and recycling collection is pushed back a day.

Other surrounding areas, like Wyandotte County and Olathe, will still be collecting trash on Thursday on the normal schedule.

In Kansas City

If the city usually picks up your trash on Thursday, collectors will come around on Friday. If your trash collection day is usually Friday, it will be Saturday.

The change is part of the city’s holiday schedule. With more holidays coming up, you can check out upcoming days when trash service will be delayed on this page here.

If for some reason your trash isn’t picked up or you have a question about trash collection or another city service, you can call 311.

And as the leaves keep falling, remember that Kansas City added days for leaf and brush collection. Check out what days to put out your bags of leaves depending on what area of the city you live in.

Surrounding areas

Many areas surrounding Kansas City use private trash collection, so it’s different businesses that pick up the trash, not the city. You can search your address to see if your trash service will be disrupted by Veterans Day on most of the private collectors’ sites.
