Grandview man charged in wrong-way I-470 crash that killed other driver
Prosecutors have accused a 31-year-old Grandview man of driving the wrong way on Interstate 470 late Thursday and causing a head-on collision that killed another motorist.
According to court records:
Mark G. Hoban was driving a Mazda CX7 east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 435 shortly before collision. He crossed onto Interstate 470 about 11:30 p.m., still going the wrong way, and hit a Honda Civic driven by Maria S. Morataya, who died at the scene.
Afterward at a hospital, an officer detected an odor of alcohol on Hoban. He sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Prosecutors charged Hoban with first-degree involuntary manslaughter and asked that his bond be set at $75,000.
