Fatal crash closes northbound lanes to I-435 in southeast Kansas City

Police have closed northbound Interstate 435 in the Three Trails Crossings in southeast Kansas City after a fatal crash early in Monday morning’s rush hour.

The crash occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. where eastbound I-435 curves north in what formerly was known as the Grandview Triangle.

The highway will remain closed while police investigate the crash, according to the Kansas City District of the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Crash scene investigators from the Kansas City Police Department could be seen using flashlights to examine the wrecked vehicle, which had ran off the highway before coming to a rest under the bridge that leads traffic to westbound I-435.

Further details of the crash were not immediately available.
