Here’s what to know to vote in Johnson County’s local election on Tuesday
The local election on Nov. 2 will fill essential roles including various mayors, city council seats, representatives for several school boards and more.

Here’s what else you need to know to cast your ballot in Johnson County.
Election Day voting in person
Election Day is on Nov. 2. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you’re voting on Election Day, you must do so at the polling place assigned to your ward and precinct. You can find that on this list. If you’re not sure which polling place to visit, put in your address here to find your polling place.
Remember: The only thing Johnson County voters need to bring with them to the polls is a government-issued photo ID. You can check which types of ID documents qualify here. If you don’t have an acceptable form of ID, you can apply for a voter ID card through the Kansas DMV here. You may also find it helpful to bring along the voter information card you got in the mail from the county elections office, or review your sample ballot online.
Mailed Ballot Voting
The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot was Tuesday, October 26. All mail-in ballots must be returned by Election Day.
You have four options for returning your ballot:
By mail. Mail your ballot to the Johnson County Election Office at 2101 E. Kansas City Road, Olathe, KS 66061. This address is already printed on the enclosed return envelope. Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 5.
To any early voting location. You can drop off your mail-in ballot at any of the eight early voting locations during their open hours. Make sure you return your ballot before 7 p.m. on Election Day.
To any polling place. While you must vote in person at your own polling place, you can return a mailed ballot to any of them before 7 p.m. on Election Day.
To a ballot drop box. There are eight ballot drop boxes in Johnson County. You can find their locations here, at the bottom of the page. These ballot drop boxes are open 24/7 until 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Important reminder: Don’t forget to carefully follow all the instructions included with your mailed ballot. If you don’t follow these instructions, your vote may not be counted. If you have specific questions, call the Johnson County Election Office at 913715-6800.
